When fruit growers and orchardists settled in Doncaster in the late 19th century, Doncaster was once considered the ‘country side’. As the city of Melbourne has expanded, Doncaster has grown into a thriving retail and residential hub, while maintaining a medium density living space, surrounded by beautiful parks, schools, and sports grounds.  Doncaster is located 17km to Melbourne’s East. The Eastern Freeway connects Doncaster to Melbourne city within 15 to 30 minutes (depending on traffic) and to the Mornington Peninsula in under an hour via the EastLink. Two arterial roads (Doncaster Road & Manningham Road) cross through Doncaster, providing access to the impressive Westfield Shopping Centre (on Doncaster Hill) and to all the major surrounding suburbs including Box Hill, Balwyn and Templestowe. Unfortunately, Melbourne’s first electric tram no longer operates along Tram Road (hence the name), but instead an efficient bus system allows commuters to travel within Doncaster and externally to other Melbourne suburbs. The city can be reached by bus in 30 minutes or via Box Hill Central Train Station in under 1 hour.
